Artist's Comments

Originally I was going to post more Su-san and Tino comics, but sadly- ethnic reality had to strike- and I got so many comments from Finnish people about how they actually hate the Swedes that I just decided it would be best to lay off those.
I also got some people who became somewhat offended that their countries were made into "cheap hentai fodder" or whatever the term they used. Yes, I had a hard time believing my eyes at those comments:
Considering that, you know, Hetalia makes EVERY COUNTRY INTO CHEAP HENTEI FODDER YOU FOOLS!

Holy mother of it all, you would think that in this day an age, people would be more open-minded, or willing to realize that the bad-blood between nations is a long never-ending fuel for cultural destruction and blood shed... and that maybe, MAYBE we should all learn to laugh and love.

But who am I to go lecturing these obvious saints of the world this hippie nonsense? After all, they have been to gracious and generous to other ethnicites, and never lifted a finger in hate- oh that's right, EVERY ethnicity and culture has the historical burden of genocide and bloodshed on their hands! Silly me for thinking that people would have evolved into something a little more intelligent- you know, LEARN from their ancestral mistakes and better themselves?

So, through and through, off the soap box, I started on something different. Here's a little Austria and an "unknown" source of his depression.
God only knows how my Austrians will now come after me for any implications I might portray by the end of this one.
But that's alright, I'm Jewish after all, we can just go back to 1940 and bring up all those things that had been done back then because, clearly, we should never get over what happened in generations past and more forward together, but rather condemn people to their history forever and hate them.

Oh sorry, was that being too sarcastic?

Yah, I know.
For someone who is so bitter [myself], I am awed to see how far others are willing to carry their bitterness. And I thought I was grumpy! XD

Bloody hell, people were actually getting upset over all that? Shoot, just ignore them. I LOVE your Su-chan and Tino comics, they are so cute! And so what if they represent a country? No where did you ever say that it was based on real life, right? It's just representation. I've seen a few comics on here that portray American in an unfair light but I've never gotten up in the artist's face for it. I think people should just suck it up and if they don't like it, why the hell are they reading your comics anyways?

I feel for you.
I have Irish, German, and Cherokee in my blood. In addition, I'm also American, which could mean I'm perceived as being stupid and arrogant.
And oddly enough, I find the way the US is portrayed to be quite hilarious.
:iconlegaspplz:

The Irish had it rough after they immigrated to America during the potato famine. They were treated as badly as the black community in those days, seen as something "not human." Not to mention they're amongst the most stereotyped.
Catch me Lucky Charms? No thanks.

The Germans...World War II. Enough said. People have made assumptions before that I'm a Nazi of sorts.

Cherokees...or any tribe of Native American...there were the reservations and the Trail of Tears. Such spiritual people.

Not to mention I'm Southern. There has been many a time I've seen the Confederate flag waving proudly in some people's yards or as bumper stickers on cars. The symbolism behind that flag isn't necessarily a positive thing...
Civil War, anyone?

Although I myself haven't experienced something like this before, my ancestors have. I can see where you're coming from with your take on Hetalia.

But enough of this angst fest--let's admire the picture! :D
Honestly, I love this.

Yeah let's NEVER get over all the bad things because the rest of the world is guilty but MY nation has never EVER harmed anyone!!1! Slaugther? What slaughter? Oh THIS slaughter... It was an army of archangels sent by God, obviously.

I think it's because history is a touchy subject. Sometimes, different versions of the same thing are taught in different countries... which leads to misunderstanding and hate.

I don't think we'll live to the day where it isn't an issue D:

...I hope Austria gets his inspiration back V:

I swear, people take Hetalia far too seriously. It pokes fun at everyone. There's no need to get your panties in a twist. I mean, you don't see me up in arms over the fact that America is portrayed as an ass and an idiot. But then I've always thought that the ability to laugh at oneself is important.

Well, no matter what silly people who have no sense of humor say, I love this and your Hetalia comics.

I can't believe you receive this kind of comments... Hetalia is just a manga, it's for fun. Is is that difficult to understand?
As if, as a french, I'll stop to read Hetalia an flaming any king of BL between France and England. People are not able to stop fighting and discuss freely and peacefully? Yeah, we should learn from history, and to live together too.

I'm not worry for your work, you're a good artist, in any case you'll produce something great ^^
But don't renounce to what you love to express, you're free to do what you want and what you believe it's right!

Dude, Yay for French! I gotta admit, it's such a romantic language! I know a guy who speaks French fluently.. and it's like listening to feathers dance when he speaks! XDDD

But yea, believe it or not, I got those comments. I'm glad there are folks out there that want to continue to have fun and love. But then again, I should have expected that from you- you are French! ;)

I thank you for that my neighbor! I'm glad we can laugh at ourselves and have a great time togather. Hugs form your Northern Neighbor!

P.s. Do you know what Canada is? The really polite apartment suit over the crazy awesome party. Mind if I join? ;)

I think you are right- but then again, it also takes an open minded person to realize that maybe- if there ARE two versions, the other side of the coin also has levity. After all, "History is written by the Victors, not those that lost their lives". SO what version of history CAN we believe?
Like you said, Archangels. And even they weep at our foolishness.

I think he will. He is good at figuring things out. ;)
