Another image done in my Black Sketchbook.
I wanted to try my hand at carving out an image as opposed to drawing the image. I love the sketchy-streaky feeling I did it in. In Aztec myth, the Black Jaguar is as a result of a [Yellow] Jaguar undergoing a massacre/battle. As a result, his skin is drenched in blood, and turns black. Both Jaguar and his brother Ocelot look down upon man with burning eyes. Vengeance, and destruction usually ensue for the injustice both underwent at the hands of man. A cool thing about this image is that the original has a very surreal effect to it- and from a distance only the eyes of both the characters can be seen (and teeth). The longer one stares at it, the more the picture becomes obscure, but the eye and teeth remain. It almost looks as if the picture begins to move like an animated piece- back and forth- between the two figures: The Panther is roaring. |

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. I'm always dumbstruck and left in awe by anyone who can reverse their shading process on black paper and have it come out this well. Both characters are extremely well detailed and the visual emotion coming from both is great.
