One Sick Puppy
A twisted little story by Bernice "Devil Bear" Gordon
Sesshomaru was furious.
This humiliation would not pass over easy, and he swore that his filthy hanyou brother and his human bitch would pay for it.
Sesshomaru stirred uncomfortably. “Easy,” He heard Rin coo. She began to rub his back gently.
Seshomaru wasn’t in the best of health. Amazingly enough, the Youkai had fallen ill. He hated the mere idea of it all. It wasn’t as if he was cursed, or enchanted or anything... he simply fell ill. And that didn’t make any sense to him. He didn’t ever get sick. Well, not since he was a small pup. And already his stature being compromised, he didn’t want to make it public for all. He had to retain an image. Just imply for a single moment that one was weak, and every demon in Japan would try to stake his claim with your blood.
The thought angered him so that he clenched every muscle in his body. And with it, his discomfort grew noticeably. Again, he heard Rin from behind him gently easing him back to calm. She shushed him, and continued to stroke his back. “Just a little longer… just a bit more…”. Seshomaru looked over at the hourglass. The strange little one that Kagome had brought them would time this perfectly. And he didn’t want to have to suffer this any longer than necessary.
He sat in silence remembering his brother’s visit just last night. He had come with his wife when he had heard his brother had fallen ill. Sesshomaru assumed that that was probably Jaken’s doing, for the annoying toad had a way of getting Inuyasha involved every time he thought that his lord needed “help”. While he refused to believe that Inuyasha actually cared for his state of physical health (no doubt he was there checking to see if the old lord was on his last legs so that he could finish the job), Sesshomaru had to admit that his brother did look worried. Which is why he didn’t want to refuse the bundle of gifts that Kagome had brought with her. That, and some of the objects she brought were intriguing.
Looking over the items subtly, he immediately caught site of a blanket that she had brought with her as well. While his wife was quietly discussing with Kagome about various things about the medicinal items she had brought, he inspected the only item of value in the pile- it was clearly woven with the skill of a master who’s work was just as accurate as if a machine had made it… and the dyes were vibrant and also diligently applied. It wasn’t silk, but it was soft, and the pattern on it was clearly purposefully commissioned for him with regard to his great heritage. He immediately confiscated the item form the pile and ordered for it to be laid in the master’s sleeping chamber. Oddly, this set Kagome and Rin giggling. The other items were all ointments and other various medicinal herbs and cures that set his head to an aching split. Their aromas were overwhelming, and he immediately found himself being escorted by his brother to his bed to lay down for a rest. He would have put up more of a cold exterior and dismissive attitude if it weren’t for the fact that he really did appreciate the help. At that point in time, he fell asleep and didn’t even wake up until the next morning.
He bristled. This morning. This miserable morning.
Again, he heard Rin, “Hush! Stop moving, you are making this far more difficult than it needs to be!” Seshomaru remained motionless under his blanket. His face barely visible but flushed from fever and immense embarrassment.
Returning to his thoughts he remembered how he woke up feeling no better that when he had gone to sleep the night before. He had tried to eat something- only to please Rin who coaxed him on and on about- and found that he had no appetite. It was then she had laid a hand on his brow. Her face grew long with worry. She gently laid her lips on his brow. Sesshomaru knew his wife, and knew what this meant. When she did this, she was clearly double checking to see if what she felt was reality and not some invention of her imagination. His fever was soaring and it was worrying her to death. Sesshomaru tried to clam her by reassuring her that he was ALWAYS warm due to his massive Youkai body and that all was well. But he couldn’t look her in the face when he said that. He knew he was lying. Warm was one thing, but he was hot- and even he knew it.
Rin then went to fetch some medicine that Kagome had brought. So far, most of the other tonics had been tolerable in application and taste. The ointments were soothing- however too pungent for him so that Rin had to gently lay a silk kerchief on his nose to block out the smell- and the medicines interesting in taste. They tasted almost unreal, but nothing he couldn’t swallow- literally. Now Rin brought out an interesting little contraption, a small container of ointment, the funny hour glass and a small bottle. Sesshomaru lay quietly under his new blanket and inspected the items from afar. Clearly, his wife knew what to do with them as she set to work immediately. Kagome must have told her all this the night before when he went to rest out his headache.
“All right, Maru,” she began ” I can’t give you the medicine until I know how much fever you have. So I’ll need your help.” She started off calmly and very sweet. Sesshomaru gave her a weak smile and didn’t see the problem in this. So long as he didn’t have to do much- he was incredibly tired- he would help her as much as she needed. He watched as she extracted a small device, about the length of her palm, and covered the long end with some ointment. The bulb on the other end was all red. He hadn’t the slightest idea what it was. She set it aside, crossed her legs and then pat her lap. “Come here.” She smiled.
Sesshomaru was reluctant to leave his blanket, but did as he was asked. If it would make him feel better, and set Rin’s mind at ease, he would oblige. He shifted himself to the side of his bed where Rin was sitting, and began to lay his head in her lap.
“No no, this way” she said, guiding him so that he would lay belly down in her lap. Now Sesshomaru was fully trusting of his wife, but he was beginning to question what was going on. She must have picked up on this and soothed him quickly. He was a little cold, but didn’t make any mention of it.
He watched as she reached over to pick up the lathered little object and brought it to her other hand. He was looking at her as she was apparently reading the side of it when she caught sight of him. She smiled and gently moved his head to look away. Curious, but still trusting, he just lay awkwardly on her lap.
And then… oddly, he had felt hear pull down the back end of his pants, revealing his rump. He wanted to turn around to look what was going on, but Rin had purposefully moved to lean on his back and block his view. Before he had a chance to ask what was going on, Sesshomaru felt his wife briskly parting his rump and then…
Sesshomaru let out a startled cry.
He would have jump strait up if it weren’t for the fact that Rin was leaning on him, he was incredibly weak, and any movement only made the startling discomfort worse.
He began to squirm and panic and before long, he had felt Rin remove the object. “Maru, sit still!” She said, accenting her last word with a grab around his waist and a pull downward back into her lap. He quickly slipped out of her embrace, landed on the floor on his back, and was looking at her in shock. She looked back at him expressionless. Oh, if that wasn’t ironic in itself.
“What are you doing?” he asked flushing.
“I have to see how much fever you have so I can give you something for it.” She said plainly.
“What… that’s not…” Sesshomaru was trying to verbalize his objections but was to weak, and quite frankly, all the action made him dizzy and he began feeling nauseated. Rin saw him go pale in moments and quickly began to fuss over him. This was all too overwhelming for the poor Dog Lord. He just began to scramble back into his bed. Rin let him momentarily “win” and let him get back under his blanket. In the meanwhile, she put more ointment on the little object. Sesshomaru caught site of this. He clenched his buttocks in remembrance of THAT situation. Clearly annoyed, he stared at the object in disgust.
“Ok,” Rin started getting close to him while holding the object of implicit death.
Sessh let out a soft growl. Rin just froze and glared back at him with the same intensity of his growl. It figured that the only thing fiercer than the mighty Dog Lord was his wife.
Sesshomaru quieted immediately. Rin began to close the very small distance between them as if nothing happened.
Sesshomaru was very weary.
“Roll over” Rin said. Sesshomaru just lay where he was. Rin looked at him intensely. “Sesshomaru…” she began. Sesshomaru just glared at her. Clearly, his expression of disgust replaced with a soft plea.
Rin fought fire with fire. She began to become anxious and a fearful at his feverish state. What happened after that Sesshomaru tried to recall but found that he couldn’t. He remembered feeling incredibly apt at calming his wife, but also reluctant, there was a bribe, his wife had done plenty of kissing his face and neck, coaxing and cooing and somehow he found himself in her lap again. This time however, he wasn’t as ignorant. Rin tried to relax him for she seemed to have a problem actually using the object if his rump was tense. She tried to message his back, tried to sooth him, and eventually she hit the right spot. “Do you want your blanket?” She asked, setting “the object” aside and reaching for his new cover. His head turned to see he take the blanket and gently lay it on him.
Excellent. He had a cover now. And a REAL cover. And by that he meant something that he could cover his face- and hopefully his shame- with and to pretend that it wasn’t happeneing. Rin let him get comfortable under his blanket- cocooning himself within it- before reaching for “it” again. Sesshomaru didn’t even want to look.
He felt her fiddling under his blanket. Felt his pants being pulled down. He tensed. “Calm,” she said. Sesshomaru buried his face between his hands in shame.
“MMP!” Seshomaru wanted to die.
“Shhhhh” Rin just stroked his back.
And that was where he was now. Lying miserably on his wife’s lap, praying for a slow and painful demise for his brother and his obnoxious wife.
Oh, the humiliation. Oh the disgrace. Oh the shame, mortification, indignity of this all! How the mighty Lord would be seen if any would have ever found this out! Oh how could he ever look his wife in her face again? All that he stood for, all his regal and grace, all his stature EVERYTHING was being compromised because of this… everything he worked so hard for, all gone because of one small trivial thing. One sick and twisted medical cure for his ailment. He prayed that Jaken nor anyone else would find out about this. With Rin it was different. The embarrassment would leave eventually. Somehow, she was good at making him feel “normal”- but everyone else? Oh god no, let no one else find out! PLEASE!
Just then, in his moment of great despair, the tears of frustrated dishonor and degradation threatening to leave his eyes, the awkward silence was broken by a soft whimper. Rin cocked on eyebrow “Oh, pipe down. It’s for your own good.” She said merrily as she always was.
Just then, Kagome’s small hourglass finished falling. Rin gently removed the object. Seshomaru didn’t move from fear of it all. Rin read the side. She sighed worriedly. “It’s far too high, Maru.” She said. And she began to rub his side. He still didn’t move. Rin smiled. “It’s not that bad, Maru”. He didn’t even want to show his face. Rin sighed. She kissed the blanketed figure on its head.
While Rin went to fetch the small bottle of medicine and work out how much he needed, she just spoke to him softly as he humiliatingly crawled back into his bed, never letting the blanket slip from his body. Ever so gently she was calling him by all his pet names and then some just to help built his clearly shattered dignity. She came over to give him his medicine. Sesshomaru was trying to convince himself of just the same thing. Well, no one else did see what just happened. And Rin wasn’t like the other Ladies who would dabble and drabble in gossip and petty social politics… she would never speak word of this to anyone, and probably not even bring this up again with him. Feeling somewhat less appaled with himself he rolled onto his back. Still flushed with illness and embaresment, he put out his hand to take from his wife his medicine. While he was swallowing it, he came to the conclusion that all wasn’t as bad as it seemed.
“You want to take a nap now?” Rin asked, gently stroking his cheek.
Shessomaru nodded once.
Clearly, he was regaining his stature.
“Ok,” she said, planting a gentle kiss on his cheek. “Do you want me to get you another pillow?”
Sesshomaru shook his head.
“Ok then, you rest up. I’ll wake you when it’s midday.”
Sesshomaru shuffled in his bed to get comfortable. It’s ok. No one knows. It’s not that bad. He snuggled under his blanket.
Rin smiled. “You really like that blanket, huh?” She smiles.
“Yes.” he answered softly.
Rin quietly kissed him again, made sure he was tucked in, and quietly left the room. As she was leaving she heard him murmur to himself. “I like this blankie - BLANKET!” he barked out the last word.
Rin just left laughing.
LOL! I love it. I would suggest you get someone to beta for you in the future - there were a few minor spelling errors, but otherwise it\'s very well written. And, the accomanying sketch is priceless.
Tried posting this last night, but of course by the time I had hit the submit button, DA had gone into read-only mode. The bastards
*DIES* Oh my god. Poor Sesshoumaru. He'll never be the same again.
His expression is PRICELESS. Pure and total miserable embarrassment. Everytime I look at it I laugh.
The story matches the pic in its humor. Oh man. I loved the part about how he thought the blanket was right for his heritage. And how he let the word "blankie" slip.
I love how Rin just coddled him the whole time. Because you know when men get sick they whimper and whine and need to be treated like children again. Sesshoumaru wouldn't be any different.
Priceless. Well done. And once again, poor POOR Sesshoumaru. He'll need some extra loving after this!!
