Soft and Cuddly, Thorny and Pringley

“Fuzzies!” exclaimed Rin, before bounding off to the tree side.
It had been quite the uneventful spring morning, and Rin was thankful for the slight change in events. No sooner had the company of Lord Sesshomaru settle down to rest-out the intense noon day heat when Rin was up to being a quick-start again. Jaken sighed his disapproval. No doubt, he was thinking about the former and it’s trifle annoyances. He was subtle about it, however, for the lord was no doubt near by and had developed an inexplicable tolerance for the girl. So tolerant, Jaken dared think, that it’s almost as if Master Sesshomaru likes her!
Jaken casually turned his head to catch a glimpse of his master’s reaction when a startled look came across him. His master was gone!
Quickly looking back to where Rin had run off, he noticed the Lord quickly trotting to the same place.
Rin was in love! The little field in which they decided to roost was covered in blossoming fluffy dandelions. And to join them, fuzzy little bumble bees and cuddly little porcupines. Rin pounced with arms extended on a small hill blessed with these multiple treasures and was kicking with too much glee to even bother that she had gone up… but hadn’t come down. She hung suspended there for a few moments, kicking and giggling until the realization of bare cuddlyless arms became apparent. At first, she was perplexed. Than slowly looking up and back over her shoulder did she spot what was causing her problem. Apparently, she was caught on Sesshomaru- or more like it, Sesshomaru had caught her. Ever so gently he had lifted her by the collar of her Kimono, and sat quietly. She tried to wriggle out of her situation, but that didn’t work. Then she tried to swing back and forth, and eventually when her patience wore thin, she decided not to be so nice to her Dog Lord, forgot her manners, and tried to pry the collar out of his mouth. Sesshomaru- as always- seemed expressionless. Only but one fang remind visible from his mouth, tightly pining the fabric to it.
Frustrated and very disappointed, Rin began to wail. Not a pleasing sound to say the least, never the less for one like Sesshomaru who’s ears were quite sensitive, but the only way she could indicate her intense disagreement to her Master’s actions.
Jaken, in the meanwhile, waddled over to the scene. Had he known what was going on, or had he had some kind of foresight to the obvious he would have probably stayed a safe distance, but curiosity got the better of him and he came over. Before he had a chance to open his mouth to reprimand Rin of her unacceptable behavior, Jaken felt a swift harsh kick in his behind that sent him flying a short distance to land on the small hill. And as Jaken’s luck would have it, directly on a porcupine as well.
Howling with pain, Jaken quickly shot strait into the air. Running in circles from the agony, he soon disturbed the bees that were tending to the dandelions and they too added the pricks and pangs of their sharp spines to his ever growing collection.
Rin stopped crying. Hanging ever so piteously from Sesshomaru’s mouth, she watched solemnly at the short comical show Jaken was putting on. But she wasn’t laughing at all. With eyes still moist she looked up as Sesshomaru. He softly looked down at her before letting go of her collar and placing her into his cozy embrace. Rin just huggled at his belly. Even thought she was young, she fully understood what the Youkai did.
Sesshomaru got comfortable at the crotch of the nearby tree while Rin was wriggling around on him to get comfortable herself. He tried not to smile as she did so, for the little limbs tickled his stomach, and soon both were softly dozing in the shade.
Jaken, beaten and tortured from the cute and fuzzy animals, silently retreated, and tended to his lumps for the rest of the afternoon.
