Me and some friends were talking the other day- about how stories and symbols and characters form all eras can influence people and teach people the rights and wrongs of our world. We also discussed how other things- social, emotional, and moral- issues change with the influence of stories.
Our biggest love and passion are for creatures and animals and the supernatural. And we went through nearly all our old obsessions (some which ring true until today), and found the handful of designs and characters that could fit into the category of "ancient legend". We then decided to draw them out in an ancient style to see how they would look.
Obviously, I chose the North West Pacific style, and my beast of choice was - if you couldn't tell- Blastoise. Until today he is one of my FAVORITE pokemon ever. And I loved him becuase his design was believable, and his element matched mine.
So here is a tribute to the Pokemon who got me the 3rd place in the National Championship in Israel when I was- 15? 16 years old? Basically- about ten years ago, when all this poke-craze started.
I love you Sheldon- you big bubble blowing blockhead!
P.S. YES! I KNOW he is missing the Hydro Canons, I wanted the image to fit a traditional style, and more believable design! DO NOT pester me about it or I am going to flip you the bird (it's called "artistic license").
ALSO: DO NOT request that I draw other pokemon in this style, or make passive statement like "I would love to see so-and-so in this style" becuase that is just a cowardly way to put in a request. You want me to draw something for you? Commission me. Otherwise, I draw what I feel inspired to!
Pleased do not- I do not allow my work to be taken and appropriated by non-community members, without the proper permissions from my Elders. I do not allow this to be tattooed.
i like how you fused the haida style with pokemon style to make something truly cool looking!great work!i enjoyed your description for the piece as well!you have a fan from canada!
